Governance
Thurlton Primary is School is part of the Clarion Corvus Trust.
Each school within the Trust has a Local Governing Body (LGB) who have responsibility for the day to day running of the school. They have oversight of standards, curriculum and community. The LGB reports to the Clarion Corvus Board of Trustees. The Trustees have responsibility for strategic and financial leadership across all CAT academies.

Ms Jess Balado – Headteacher
Jess joined Thurlton Primary School as acting Head of School in January 2023 and became substantive Head in April 2023.
After teaching across all primary year groups, Jess became a head teacher in 2008. She has led 4 schools and is also a consultant for Nurture UK and is currently Chair of the Norfolk School Leaders Association, working to support school leaders across the county.
Mr John Betney - Vice Chair of Governors- Appointed Governor
John was appointed as a parent governor in June 2019. He is an Operations Manager at The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and has 15 years’ experience of managing teams and people in Service Delivery. John has lived in Norfolk all his life, relocating to Thurlton in 2004.
Mrs Victoria Powles – Appointed Governor
Victoria has 12 years’ teaching experience at secondary schools around Norfolk and Suffolk. She currently teaches History and Sociology at Bungay High School and Sixth Form. Victoria has previous experience in leading a department and as a Head of Year. She has two children; her eldest child currently attends Thurlton Primary School.
Mr David Simington – Appointed Governor
David is a retired Primary Headteacher and UEA University lecturer of Art and Technology. He has extensive knowledge of Education in Norfolk and Suffolk from Primary through to University and is dedicated to educational standards. Now a practicing artist designing creative programs for local and regional schools at the UEA.
Mrs Lucy Fawkner – Appointed Governor
Lucy is a retired primary school teacher with a particular interest in The Early Years. She spent most of her career working in small, rural primary schools in Suffolk. She has four grown up children and spends much of her time volunteering locally.
